With the exception of his pro-choice stance, Foley was a mainstream conservative his first term. He helped pass legislation to speed the deportation of nonviolent illegal immigrants serving sentences in federal prisons, and was the only Representative from Florida to earn an A from the National Taxpayers Union for his votes to cut federal spending in 1995.

Stuber, whose father was a steel-worker and fire fighter, worked his way through college as a scholarship student. And in keeping with his background, he focuses on education, including funding for Head Start and Pell grants.
