A decade after Match.com launched, Americans are finally warming up to and logging onto online dating sites. Twenty-six percent of Americans know someone who has found a date online, according to a 2006 report by the Pew Research Center.
There are now more than 800 dating web sites to choose from, with Yahoo Personals leading the pack. Because sharing a common faith or spiritual views is important to many couples, Yahoo Personals teamed up with the spirituality website Beliefnet.com to launch SoulMatch.com. While the personals appearing on SoulMatch.com are the same as those on Yahoo, Soul Match has a handy search engine that lets users find a match by faith. All major religions are represented on the site, as are atheists, agnostics and the "spiritual but not religious."
