If there's one thing viewers want to see on TV, it's more advertising! At least that's what the basic-cable movie channel AMC is hoping with this period drama about admen at a fictional Madison Avenue firm in 1960. It's set during the ad business' postwar heyday, with scotch-drinking, Cheeveresque admen using their wiles to persaude Americans that cigarettes won't kill them, and to persuade the "girls" from the steno pool to sleep with them. As a writer for The Sopranos, creator Matthew Weiner has experience getting an audience to identify with a less-than-beloved profession. But in the age of Tivo ad-skipping, this may be a tougher sell yet.
