New Museum of Contemporary Art
New York City is becoming, with Frank Gehry's building for IAC, Norman Foster's Hearst Tower and now the opening of SANAA's design for the New Museum of Contemporary Art (above), a destination for modern-architecture aficionados. The eagerly awaited completion of the metal-mesh-clad seven-story structure, only the second project for Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa in the U.S., is set for December, when the doors open with an exhibit of sculpture exploring the object in the 21st century. But if the lines are too long, there's no need to go inside to see art.
