Glass
Best known for her provocative sculptures of women and nature-inspired prints, artist Kiki Smith is teaming up with Steuben to help the 104-year-old glassmaker explore its inner edginess. The lead-crystal collection includes sculptures with detachable jewelrywhich can be worn separatelyand a limited-edition vase ($60,000). And Smith has persuaded the company, which prides itself on precision etching, to go loosey-goosey with the engraved snakes twisting around its vases, with the result that no two pieces are alike. It's a tabletop fit for a museum.
