Film Debut
In 1980, Williams starred as the famous cartoon sailor, Popeye, (opposite Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl), but the film, like many of Williams' early screen appearances struggled to find an audience. Popeye never lived up to its namesakes' popularity, while Williams' other early films, like The World According to Garp (1982) and Moscow on the Hudson (1984) were only moderately successful.
