Back in his Senate says, two of Joe Biden's signature achievements were bills on domestic violence and police funding. Maybe that's what got the famously loose-lipped vice president so fired up at an Oct. 18 event at which Biden was chiding Republicans for blocking Obama's jobs bill: "I wish these guys that thought it's temporary," he said, referring to opponents of temporary state aid that would help pay the salaries of public employees such as cops, "I wish they had some notion what it's like to be on the other side of a gun. Or a 200 pound man standing over you telling you to submit. Folks, it matters. It matters!" He was trying to make the point that fewer police could mean more crime, but even so, armed robbery and rape aren't the kind of thing one usually "wishes" on a political opponent.
