The term British Invasion was coined for the rock-'n'-roll movement that gripped the U.S. during the 1960s, and at its forefront were the Beatles. The band's arrival in New York City on Feb. 7, 1964, opened America's eyes to the joys of frantic beats and suggestive lyrics, forever changing the sound of music. John, Paul, George and Ringo, a group of Muppet-faced moptops from Liverpool, sent audiences into a frenzy, later dubbed Beatlemania. Their innovative blend of folk, classical and psychedelic rock captivated those crazy kids, and from Please Please Me to Revolver to Let It Be, their fans followed them all the way.
