There is so much happening on Sufjan Stevens' Age of Adz that instead of speaking in terms of songs, it might make more sense to speak of the album in terms of sounds. There's the pulsating drum machine in "Too Much," Stevens' warbling singing on the title track and what sounds like a synthesized imitation of a dial-up modem (or maybe a fax machine?) on "Vesuvius." Listening to Age of Adz is an exercise in sonic experimentation helped along by tender vocals and melodies that will stick with you for days.
