With ratings for evening news shows going down the tubes, Taiwanese animators Next Media Animation have found a new way to captivate audiences: animate the day's top stories. The company has produced about 30 mostly humorous animated pieces, spotlighting people from Lindsay Lohan to President Obama to fed-up JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater. Mark Simon, the commercial director of Next Media, told TIME that his animations are the future of news. "[Soon], if you don't have an animation in your news sequence, it's going to be like not having color photographs in a newspaper," he said.
