It's just 102 years and counting since the Chicago Cubs won a World Series. But here are the reasons the drought (come to think about it, drought doesn't seem to do justice to the sorry state of affairs) could come to an end. When healthy, the team's lineup is as impressive as anyone's in baseball. Who wouldn't want the likes of Kosuke Fukudome, Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Marlon Byrd, Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Zambrano on their team? The Cubs' fan base is also as rabid as any in baseball. And if you look beyond the curse of not winning a World Series, the truth is that this has been the most successful era in Cubs history: the Cubs had six winning seasons in the 2000s, their most since the 1930s, a decade in which they lost three World Series. Hope springs eternal every spring.
