For most of us, our old clothes and shoes go to the Salvation Army or Goodwill. But when you're a pop star like Elton John, anything you once owned or used can be auctioned off for money. When the flamboyant British singer's former housekeepers selected some old platform shoes, shirts and ties to give to an auction house in London, John's agent issued a statement saying the items were just "discarded rubbish" that John would rather not have auctioned off. John declined to put up a legal fight, however, and the auction went on although it was never revealed how much the duds fetched.
