Allegedly the powerful ruler of the Emerald City — with the power to send Dorothy home, give the Scarecrow a brain, outfit the Tin Man with a heart and provide the Cowardly Lion some courage — he is actually a fraud, exposed when trusty Toto pulls back a curtain and finds the Wizard pushing buttons and pulling levers to produce pyrotechnics. Nonetheless, The Wizard of Oz — based on L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz — is reportedly the most-watched film in history. So this Wizard gets points, at the very least, for market penetration.
