The claim
Among the items submitted on Gillan's supermarket receipt were a $5.64 bag of Iams Senior Chicken dry dog food and two 60-cent cans of Cesar chicken and turkey meat. Gillan is clearly a dog lover: her designated second home in London is two miles from Battersea dogs home while one of her previous dogs, Tizzy, once won the Westminster Dog of the Year competition.
The justification
"I mistakenly submitted a food bill which contained items for which I did not intend to claim. I will repay the amount."
The response
There's no mystery over this claim and Gillan hasn't even attempted to justify it. She acknowledged that the pet-food claim was made by mistake and would be repaid in full.
