In his element on a grand stage before the cameras, slammed the press, praised Obama for his historic candidacy (before summarily mocking him), and offered up McCain as the best person to lead the nation. He unfurled some homilies, told some patriotic parables, and shot off a series of jokes pillorying the opposition (targeting Obama and Biden with cheery precision). Was rather low-energy and sometimes meandering, however, hushing the crowd rather than riling them up. Still, the former Arkansas Governor is unmatched in the party at making people laugh and feel good. Notably, some delegates in the hall wagering on Huckabee's next move, put their money on television personality or pundit not political leader.
