Their first album in seven years finds the Pumpkins sounding more or less like they sounded 14 years ago. Grungy guitars from Billy Corgan and heavy drums from Jimmy Chamberlain still have arena echoing power, but angst-ridden tries at poetry and goth ambience (song titles include: Doomsday Clock, Tarantula and 7 Shades of Black) seem a little shop-worn.
