What's your carbon footprint? If you're an average American, it's about 20 tons of CO2. (If you're an average Afghan, it's 0.03 tons.) But corporations have a much harder time figuring out exactly how much greenhouse gas they're responsible for and, just as importantly, how to reduce it. That's where ClimateCheck comes in. The Canadian consultancy tracks and manages a company's carbon portfolio, so businesses know how much they're emitting and how best to reduce those emissions. That ability will come in especially handy as mandatory caps on carbon emissions already in place in Europe and Canada spread to the rest of the world. "A lot of people look at [dealing with]climate change as an add-on to their business," says Tom Baumann, ClimateCheck's CEO. "It's not. It's a whole new way of doing business."
