Though Frazier's rivalry with Ali would come to define his personal life as well as his public persona, Frazier dropped his grudge against Ali later in life. In 2009, he told SI.com that, in regards to Ali, "I'd do anything he needed for me to help." The day before Frazier's death, Ali released a statement saying that Frazier was in his prayers and that "Joe has a lot of friends pulling for him, and I'm one of them." Frazier died in hospice care for liver cancer on Nov. 7, 2011.
