A Garden on Our Tables
"Food is such a hot topic," Kamps says, "and looking back to the past adds to the conversation." The exhibit wraps up with a nod to current First Lady Michelle Obama, whose central cause is the Let's Move campaign to fight obesity and encourage healthy eating habits. The vegetable garden she planted on the South Lawn in 2009 was the first since Eleanor Roosevelt's wartime victory garden some 60 years before, back when butter was a food group.
