Another prize from the presidential vaults is just such a recipe. Queen Elizabeth II sent this set of scone instructions to President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1960. In an accompanying note on Buckingham Palace stationery, she said that she spotted a picture of him barbecuing, which reminded her that she'd promised him the recipe when he visited Balmoral Castle. "I now hasten to do so," she wrote. "And I do hope you will find them successful."
