Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara (Britain)
Queen Mary, wife of King George V, commissioned royal jewelers Garrard's to create this tiara in 1913. Its 19 openwork diamond frames each feature a large drop-shaped pearl hanging from a lovers'-knot bow. Queen Mary bequeathed the tiara to her granddaughter Queen Elizabeth, who in turn gave it to Princess Diana as a wedding present in 1981. Following her divorce from Prince Charles in 1996, Diana returned it to the Queen. By April 19, 2011 the week before the royal wedding British betting agencies were convinced that Kate Middleton would wear this tiara down the aisle, listing it as a 5:2 favorite.
