An Englishman in New York

Somebody asked me if I'd thought about one of the auction houses and did I realize that Jamie Niven was David Niven's son. I thought he must be English but it was surprising to go and meet him and he sounded so incredibly American because he actually grew up between Hollywood and Texas. But he feels like a hybrid because Americans think he sounds very English. The funny thing is that we did a shot inside and it felt terribly predictable. I asked if we could go up and he said, "not really, because I have terrible vertigo!" But of course, you get up to the roof and it's absolutely the shot I want to take and then I had to gently persuade him that he's not going to fall off the building!
