In the 13 years after Richard J.'s passing, Chicago went through five mayors. In 1989, on his second try, Richard M. was elected to city hall, continuing the dynasty begun by his father. This photo was taken shortly after he assumed office, during a visit from then Big Apple mayor and fellow Democrat Ed Koch.
