Glee's Broadway Roots

Idina Menzel as Elphaba, Wicked
Menzel has had a long, successful career on Broadway playing principal roles in some of the most celebrated musicals ever produced. She made her Broadway debut in 1996 as Maureen Johnson in the original cast of Rent. In 2003, her career turned for the greener when she starred in Wicked as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, a role for which she would win her first Tony Award.
