Control, 2007
Based on the troubled life of Ian Curtis, the lead vocalist for the post-punk band Joy Division, this biopic tells the story of a young man, played by Sam Riley, who is recruited to join the band that eventually becomes Joy Division, but who is plagued by epilepsy and his failing marriage. In the end he commits suicide by hanging himself in his kitchen at the tender age of 23. The movie was a directorial debut for Anton Corbijn, who had known the members of Joy Division since the late 70s.
