The Parrot Sketch
In what is judged by many to be the most memorable of all Python skits, a pet-shop customer (played by Cleese) attempts to return a parrot that he claims is dead. The pet-shop owner (played by Palin) disagrees, arguing that the bird, a Norwegian blue ("it's got lovely plumage"), is "tired and shagged out after a long squawk" and is not moving simply because it is "pining for the fjords."
