Das Boot, 1982
Wolfgang Petersen's epic Das Boot ("The Boat" — duh) is not for the claustrophobic; the film is almost entirely set onboard a German U-Boat helmed by Jürgen Prochnow's steely captain in an endless, paranoia-inducing cat-and-mouse game with Allied ships. It's also not for the weak-bladdered — the original, uncut version clocks in at 293 minutes.
