Silver Plate
As part of the same deal in which it sent back the Euphronios krater to Italy, New York's Metropolitan Museum also agreed to return 15 Hellenistic silver objects that Italian authorities say were looted from an archeological dig in Morgantina, Sicily. (The term Hellenistic generally refers to the 300 year period from the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. to the defeat of Cleopatra.) The 15 objects, including this plate, will go back in 2010.
