Bust of Nefertiti
This painted plaster and limestone bust from the 14th century B.C., now in the collection of the Egyptian Museum in Berlin, was unearthed in Egypt by a German archeologist in 1912 and brought to Germany the following year. Recently Egypt has asked the Berlin museum to lend it for the 2012 opening of the Grand Museum being built near the Great Pyramids of Giza. So far the answer has been that the bust is too fragile to travel.
