Private Space
Musk's ambitions, however, are not limited to terra firma. Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX), founded by Musk in 2002, is a private space transportation company. The entrepeneur not only invested $100 million of his own money into the company, but also helped design the company's rockets. Billed as a low-cost alternative to traditional space transport, SpaceX is set to play a key role in President Obama's initiative to privatize non-essential elements of the space program.
