Garrison Keillor, Master Storyteller

Shane Bevel / ZUMA

Past
Born into a religiously conservative family in Minnesota, Keillor was a shy boy and voracious reader. After editing and writing for his college paper — and making an unsuccessful effort at making it as a writer in New York City — Keillor turned to radio. He hosted a three hour classical music program in his home state and wrote pieces for The New Yorker. Keillor debuted A Prairie Home Companion in 1974.
