For his new band, Grohl was joined by Taylor Hawkins, left and Chris Shiflett, right. The group turned out to be one of the most triumphant second acts in pop music history. A New Music Express reviewer wrote "Foo Fighters is not the sound of mourning, it is of liberation, of an almost obscenely talented man at last gaining the confidence and wherewithal to seize control of his own artistic destiny."
