Before he became a fugitive, Escobar was the archetypal narco-emperor. Think Al Pacino in Scarface, which was made as Escobar was climbing to the heights of power. The Colombian accumulated a kingdom of private homes, property, helicopters, planes and lots and lots of expensive and antique cars. He also owned a private zoo. His cash seemed limitless, and gave him a sense of unbridled power. When a bounty was put on his head, he turned around and put a price on the head of each police officer whom his henchmen knocked off.
