In 1987 Juan Pablo took this picture with his father, then a fugitive, at his First Communion. By 1991, the drug lord had worked a deal with the Colombian government in which he would turn himself in and be incarcerated in a luxurious prison called La Catedral, complete with a king-size bed, private bath and Jacuzzi. Still, prison life, even in such surroundings, did not appeal to Escobar, and in July 1992, he managed to escape.
