'Wendy and Lucy'
After the birth of her daughter, Williams continued to work steadily, shooting four films in succession, including the 2008 indie, Wendy and Lucy, filmed on the outskirts of Portland. Williams says that she was able to relate to the self-sufficiency of her character, Wendy, a woman who is headed north to find a job in the Alaskan fisheries. Once again praised for for her performance, Williams was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and a Chlotrudis Award for Best Actress.
