A WWII Pilot's Remains

The remains of what is believed to be an airman whose plane crashed in 1942 on Mount Mendel in eastern Kings Canyon National Park, Calif., lie in the snow where they were found by two climbers. The ice-encased body, discovered Sunday, was wearing a World War II-era Army-issued, unopened parachute, park spokeswoman Alex Picavet said. Park rangers and a forensic anthropologist began to excavate the remains on Wednesday
