Untimely Tragedy
Soldiers of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement guard the flag-draped coffin of their leader, John Garang, the led the south-Sudanese rebel movement through decades of civil war against the government in Khartoum. A peace deal implemented in January brought the war to an end and installed Garang as the country's vice president. He died when his helicopter went down in bad weather
