A veteran of the Army Special Forces, Kleschen is using all his military bravery to run as a Republican in Democratic-leaning Seattle. He wants to accomplish three things: first, develop a plan to balance the budget; second, cover as many people as possible with affordable private-sector health insurance; and third, promote local goods and services to the rest of the country and the world.

Dunn, the very conservative representative of Washington's most affluent district, has pushed an agenda of tax and campaign-finance reform in her first two terms. She worked on the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, which, among other things, provides an advocate for taxpayers wrangling with the irs. The campaign bill she sponsored would have discouraged rich candidates from using their fortune as leverage to win office.
