Wright, a member and leader of the state Senate for 17 years, was called a modern-day Cincinnatus by a local newspaper, after the Roman farmer who set aside his plow to save the Republic: he says he saw the chaos in the G.O.P.-controlled Congress and felt a "call" to go to Washington.
