A nonnative Georgian and a Democrat, Kaszans is an outsider--and an underdog--in a district that gave her opponent 77% of the vote in the last election. Kaszans defends federal programs for children and seniors and is a strong proponent of Medicare, citing it as the prime reason Americans over 65 live longer than those in any other country.

And in his district, he holds town meetings almost every weekend to talk with voters and strengthen his consensus.
