Reliable gambling statistics are as hard to come by as Red Chinese production figures. According to some reports cited by the President's Commission on Law Enforcement, organized crime takes in $50-billion in gross revenues from gambling (as distinct from total turnover, which would be much higher). But the commission seems willing to settle for an estimate of $7 billion. Legal gambling has estimated revenues of about $1 billion.
