Those who plot forgery on an epic scale, however, may well be inhibited by last week's dramatic demonstration of how the canny sleuths who peer at the loops produced by a pen and assess the chemicals found in a binding can so readily expose a Hitler diary hoax. At least equally forewarned should be any editor foolish enough to emulate those at Stem, who so recklessly placed journalistic expediency above society's overriding need for accurate history.
