Specific Goals. Lindsay has not shaken up Itek drastically, but has articulated and narrowed its goals. Itek is now developing two far-out systems to extend the use of computers. One complex system, using a photo-optical method to store and select facts, is designed for such uses as translating languages from the written or spoken word. The other translates drawings, maps and charts into a digital diet for computers, which then proceed to solve engineering problems. Lindsay hopes to have both of these on the market within a year, but ventures no predictions of Itek's future growth. "You lay out areas you believe you can be effective in and work like hell," says he. "The growth rate is a fallout."
