Said the general secretary in a farewell message to Russians: "Our hope for the future of the Church of Christ in Russia is based upon the scriptural truth that the word of God is not bound, and will continue its saving work in the future as it has in the past. Your church as well as other churches in the Soviet Union have shown in troubled times that they live by the power that comes from the Holy Spirit, and this power is eternal and ever creative."
