* Few Protestants and still fewer Jews practice rhythm. In addition, Orthodox Jews abide by Niddah, the Mosaic law which prescribes abstention while a woman is "unclean" (Leviticus 15:19-24). Some rabbinical teachers have extended this time to a total of seven days after the end of menstruation.
