Without hearing any testimony by the General or his late fiancee's daughters, Judge Alfred Sydney Morgan ordered General Denhardt confined to Louisville's Jefferson County Jail to await action of a grand jury scheduled to meet Jan. 18 for Kentucky's biggest murder trial in a generation. In jail the General passed a restful night, put down a hearty breakfast, protested to newshawks that he had "loved her too much" to kill her, settled clown to examine the first issue of LIFE (see cut).
