Harvard's Hoops Star Is Asian. Why's That a Problem?

Jeremy Lin has emerged as one of the country's élite college basketball players. Why does he still get mocked for being Asian?

In the face of such foolishness, Lin maintains his composure. "I have to tip my hat to him," says McNally. "I don't know how I'd react. I might not be as mature as Jeremy."

Whether or not Lin is selected in June's NBA draft, that maturity could ultimately lead him to the ministry. A devout Christian, Lin, an economics major, is considering becoming a pastor in a church near his Palo Alto home. "I've never really preached before," he says. "But I'm really passionate about Christianity and helping others. There's a beauty in seeing people change their lifestyles for the better." If Lin leads Harvard to a March Madness berth this spring, fans might consider it his first miracle.
