It's a personal issue. It all comes down to what the Bible says: it's a personal relationship with God. I'm a private guy, and you don't want to be out there preaching to people. But faith leads you in the decisions you make. You don't always pick the right path, but it's there in your conscience.
After you recorded Cold, Cold Heart with Tony Bennett for his new Duets album, he said you taught him about interpreting songs.
I don't know about that. I was pretty much in shock. I know the words to Cold, Cold Heart by heart, but I was shaking so bad standing three feet from him that I had to hold on to the lyric sheet to try to steady myself. But he was such a gentleman. It was the thrill of a lifetime for me.
You and your wife just celebrated your 10th anniversary. That seems like a long time, at least in show biz.
It doesn't seem like a long time to me, but it might to my wife. Tomorrow, if she has my bags packed, I'll know it seems like a long time to her.
So what are your tips for a successful marriage?
I live in a house with four women. Just shut up and say, "Yes, ma'am."
