After a steady drumbeat of sexual-harassment allegations and a series of dismissive denials decimated Herman Cain's support among women, you'd imagine that he would make an effort to avoid engaging in anything with even a whiff of misogyny. But in a Nov. 9 debate on CNBC, Cain proved himself unencumbered by the shackles of common sense or courtesy. In making a point about the legislative overreach of congressional Democrats, Cain referred to Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic minority leader and formerly the first female Speaker of the House, as "Princess Nancy." He apologized the following day.
