Mom Tries to Sell Kids on eBay
People use eBay to sell everything from collectibles to houses. But an Australian woman took things a bit too far in July, when she decided to put her children up for auction. The ad included photos of her children — a boy and girl, both under 10 years old. What's worse: Strangers even placed bids.
Police were alerted to the sale by a shocked eBay surfer, and the ad was promptly taken down. The woman, who lives near Geelong, Australia said it was a joke, but police took it seriously and at first threatened to take her children into protective custody. They have since decided not to file charges against her, although an investigation has continued into who the bidders were.
